9 experiences and activities for children on Bornholm

Get up close to the cute and soft animals at Lykkelund Gedemejeri og Besøgsgård (Lykkelund Goat Dairy and Visitor Farm). Here, both children and adults can say hello to goats, pet pigs, donkeys, ponies, guinea pigs, cats and lots of other animals at the visitor farm. Join in when the goats are milked, the kids need feeding and the piggies get treats. Small children can even get a ride on one of the farm's ponies. 

In addition to the cute animals and a lovely farm shop, where you can buy e.g. ice cream, cheese, meat and local specialities, you will also find a large green garden with a great playground on the farm. Bring your own lunch basket and get comfortable in the garden while the children have fun at the playground. After lunch, we suggest you visit the farm café and enjoy a cup of coffee and a piece of homemade cake. A lovely day filled for the whole family.

Let the time travel back to the Middle Ages begin!

At Bornholms Middelaldercenter (The Medieval Centre of Bornholm) the whole family can see and experience how the rich lord, the poor peasants and the farm animals lived in the Middle Ages. Explore the large outdoor museum and take part of lots of fun activities and role plays along the way.

It is up to you to decice how you want to experience the medieval centre. You can borrow a pocket guide from the centre and go explore on your own, or you can take part in one of the free tours. Either way, both young and old will have lots of fun!

Every day in both low and high season you can take part in lots of cool activities that take you even closer to the every day life in the Middle Ages. Make your own silver coin; paint with beer and pigments, just like the painters at the time did; shoot with bow and arrow, and watch (and not least, hear!) the cannons be fired!

Ready, set, go - on a treasure hunt straight into the world of the Middle Ages!

For more than 800 years, archbishop Eskil's testament has been missing - until now. New findings indicate, that the testament is located right here on Bornholm! But in order for the testament to end up in the right hands, we need a brave and clever family who is ready to go on a treasure hunt for the parts and collect them for us. Are you up for the task?

Bornholms Middelaldercenter (The Medieval Centre of Bornholm) has created an adventurous treasure hunt where you search for Eskil's testament. The treasure hunt is a fun way to experience Bornholm for both young and old. The testament's 24 documents are spread over 12 locations all over Bornholm, so you will get around and experience the magical nature and history of Bornholm while solving puzzles, riddles and tasks. 

The treasure hunt contains tasks and puzzles for all ages, so everyone in the family can join in. You have a whole week to solve the mystery and it's completely up to you to decide who you go on the treasure hunt with.

Bornholms Tekniske Samling (Bornholm's Technical Collection) is fun, exciting and educational experience for the whole family. The museum exhibits a huge collection from the last 150 years, all with some form of connection to Bornholm. Have a look at toys and agricultural machines to ceramics and vehicles - and everything in between.

The approx. 4.000 square meter exhibition is divided into 25 themed collections that you can explore. There is plenty to see and loads of impressions, so it might be a good idea to choose the collections that you think are particularly interesting and concentrate on them. Maybe you're interested in crafts, ceramics, radio and photography or washing machines, honey production and various service professions? Or maybe you're interested in seeing how a typical family decorated their house in the 1950s? You can explore all that - and much more - at Bornholm's Technical Collection. One of the especially cool things about the museum is that - unlike many other museums - you're allowed to touch many of the things on display!

Get your pulse racing, challenge yourself and have loads of fun in the Bornholmer nature at Nature Park Bornholm 

The large activity park has several activities for both young and old; climbing courses in different  degrees of difficulty, disc golf, soccer golf and a fun quiz labyrinth in a magical oak forest. Regardless of what you choose to spend your time doing at Nature Park Bornholm, we're certain that the whole family can look forward to a great day filled with lots of laughs and fun experiences in the park. 

If not everyone in the family wants to be active, there are lots of lovely areas in the park where you can relax and watch while the rest of the family tries their hand at the activities at Nature Park Bornholm.

At Bornholms Rovfugleshow (Bornholm's Bird of Prey Show) you can experience much more than bird of prey; it is a fantastic animal park with everything from turtles and spiders to petting goats and - of course - birds of prey.

Here you get a unique and educational experience, where both children and adults learn about the park's many animals and how 400 years of evolution have given the animals lots of cool superpowers. Meet i.a. the world's strongest constrictor snake; turtles that can live up to be 188 years old; spiders that can grow as big as dinner plates and the world's largest insect!

And if you're not really into reptiles and insects, you might rather pet the park's rabbits and chickens, feed the goats and explore the large playground. Regardless, there are experiences for everyone at Bornholm's Bird of Prey Show. 

Every day, the park put on 4-5 outdoor and indoor shows, where you can get up close to the large and fascinating vultures, falcons and eagles.

Brændesgårdshaven is one of the world's oldest amusement parks and offers lots of fun and excitement for the whole family. The park has its own water park, zoo and a bunch of fun activities for both children and adults. 

Here, you are guaranteed hours of play. Go exploring in the zoo, take a trip on the lake in a rowing boat, feel the thrill on the cable cars across the lake, play minigolf, challenge yourself on the large climbing wall or jump into the 6.000 square meter water park. There is plenty to do at Brændesgårdshaven, and you're up for a really fun day with lots of laughs. Entrance to the water park, zoo and everything else is free once you have paid the entrance fee at the main entrance. 

The amusement park was originally a large farm with a huge, beautiful garden. Many of the garden's lovely oases are well preserved, and Brændesgårdshaven is therefore also a great quiet input to a hectic holiday; enjoy the many beautiful and old trees, flowers and bushes while soaking in the sun.

NaturBornholm is a fascinating experience and activity center that teaches you a lot about natural science and the history of the distinctive Bornholm nature in an entertaining way. 

Here you embark on a fantastic journey through time, which starts in the centre's cinema, "The Time Machine", where you experience Bornholm's nature all the way back to the primeval times - you meet dinosaurs and are shaken by a large earthquake, before you go out and explore the rest of the large exhibition. 

The center encourages you to use both your head and hands while exploring the exhibitions. You learn about the Ice Age, prehistoric times and life on Bornholm when the island was home to dinosaurs. You can also learn more about the Baltic Sea, bisons, reptiles, amphibians and many other exciting animals that have lived or still lives on Bornholm. 

On weekends, holidays and public holidays, NaturBornholm offers extra activities for children both outside and inside.

Minigolf is always a sure hit with the vast majority, both young and old. And on Bornholm you can play minigolf several places - even if the rain pours down.

We are particularly excited about Juhls Minigolf in Rønne and BornPark by Gudhjem.  

Juhls Minigolf has 2.000 square meters of indoor minigolf with lots of fun for the whole family. The courses are nice and awesome for both beginners and experienced minigolfers, and you are guaranteed sunshine all year round - even if the rain washes down outside. The courses are surrounded by greenery, trees and waterfalls, which take the experience to a whole new level and give exciting impressions along the courses. End your visit with lunch or dinner at the cosy family restaurant, Juhls Køkken.

At BornPark you play minigolf in a miniature version of Bornholm with all of the island's biggest attractions and nature experiences. Swing the golf clubs and get the ball in the whole at Jons Kapel, on Christiansø or in Ekkodalen, or see if you can get the ball past genuine Bornholm granite and large rocks quarried at Hammerknuden on North Bornholm. You will get around the entire island and the park's 18 holes in approx. 1.5 hours. Afterwards you can enjoy the park and grab a bite to eat at the park's café.
